Senior Resource Day April 28th, 8:30 am til noon at Zion Park District Leisure Ctr.
AARP Driver Safety Program: June 8th & 9th, 10 am till 2 pm at Zion-Benton Public Library. AARP member $12; non member $14. No test. Call Township to sign up, space is limited.

SENIOR DINING PROGRAM:
Seniors who are age 60 and over have the opportunity to enjoy a meal, 7 days a week for a donation of $4.00 per meal. For those that qualify you may pick up an application form at the township office. The actual cost of the meal is $6.00; however the balance is covered by funding received through the Northeastern Illinois Area Agency On Aging and Catholic Charities. Dining site location: The Avalon Family Restaurant, 4821 Grand Ave., Gurnee & N & T's Restaurant in Zion Shiloh Village on Sheridan Rd.
Senior Transportation:
Discount Half price taxi fare for seniors 65 + and those disabled residents. Maximum up to $5.00. Must apply in person at the township office.
Pace Dial-A-Ride Bus Service is available for Benton Township residents. Service Hours are Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30 am until 4 pm. This service will take you anywhere in Benton, Newport, and Zion Townships as well as Villages of Beach Park, Wadsworth, Winthrop Harbor, Gurnee and Zion. To schedule a ride call 1-800-201-6446 one day in advance. Call one week in advance for medical appointments.
Need Assistance fueling your car?
Every Wednesday beginning the first week of November and running through March from 9 am until 1 pm the Marathon service stations located on the corner of Wadsworth & Greenbay Road in Beach Park and Sheridan Road & 9th Street in Winthrop Harbor & Phillips 66 located at Rte. 173 & Kenosha Rd. will have an attendant available to assist you; thanks to the owners of these stations for their generosity. In order to participate you need a placard which is available at the township office. |
